OPEN GROUPS
GARDENING. Various speakers and visits are arranged. Meet at
St. Mark’s church hall. Westmoreland Rd. Bromley on 1st. Wednesday in the month at 1430. Except July, August and January. August 6 - A visit to the garden at Edenbridge House. September 3 - A talk about ‘Garden Festivals’ in the UK - by Mr. John Hughes. October 1 - Mr. Bowes will discuss the ways in which gardens have been depicted in works of art.
LOCAL STUDIES. We invite speakers to talk on all aspects of Bromley and surrounding areas. Visits are sometimes arranged. Meet in the URC hall. Widmore Rd. Bromley, on the 1st. Tuesday of the month at 1030 am..
No meeting during August. Sept. 2 - A talk by Sarah Fosker on the history of Danson House. October 7 - Barry McKay will give a talk, with slides, entitled ‘The Crystal Palace’.
TRAVEL GROUP. Between October and March, and in June, travel talks are given. At other times short breaks by coach and holidays at home and abroad are arranged. Meet Bromley Central Library, large hall, 4th floor, on the 4th Friday of the month at 1415. The next meeting will be Friday September 26 when Christopher Rudd will give a talk about ‘The Windward Islands’
MODERN WORLD. Talks on all aspects of ‘Modern World’. Meet in Bromley Central Library, large hall, 4th floor, on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month.. July 22 - A talk about the RNLI. By Marilyn Bass. No meeting in August. September 9 - ‘Captive in Gaza - A Father’s View’ A talk by Olaf Wiig’s father about his sons capture in Gaza.
RAMBLES. Walks are arranged fortnightly on various days throughout the year. They are led at a leisurely pace with an optional pub, or picnic lunch. Walks normally start at 1030 am. Tuesday July 22 - Meet Shorne Wood Country Park, Shorne, for a 6 - 7 mile easy walk towards Cobham..
Sunday August 3 - Meet 2 pm.. Cuckoo Wood car park for a 4½ mile walk to Downe for tea.

Open groups meet in hired halls (except Rambles), where members are invited to come along and sample the programme. Further details can be had from our newsletter. There is usually a small charge to cover hire cost of the hall and speakers expenses. There is no need to contact anyone in advance, but a current membership card should always be shown at these meetings.
