Jane Eyre at Bromley Little Theatre
14th September 2024
A group of almost 40 members of Bromley and Beckenham U3A theatre groups attended the Saturday matinee of Jane Eyre (see review below). These plays are always excellent and there is a monthly play on the main stage lasting 10 days and a bar show in between. Do check them out if you haven’t visited before.

It’s easy to forget that all concerned at BLT are providing us with entertainment in an amateur capacity and most have jobs and other responsibilities, such is the quality of performances we are treated to on a regular basis.
In my opinion this clever and alternative production of Jane Eyre would be ambitious for a professional company, so to see it so well done by BLT is such a delight. Six actors play multiple parts and we must not forget the excellent musicians in the background. With clever changes of stage sets and clothing (I’m still trying to work out how that was done!) the transitions were smooth and it was easy to follow who was who and what was what and where. Considering the size of the stage this can’t be simple. Although a very different offering the basic storyline remains true to the original. I can’t pick one person out for special mention as all were brilliant.
