THE MIRROR CRACK’D - at Bromley Little Theatre

40 theatre group members attended the most recent offering from BLT which is one of Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple mysteries. On this occasion Jane Marple is incapacitated by a badly sprained ankle and must rely on others’ recollections of events to solve the latest murder in St Mary Mead, that of a guest in the newly acquired home of a glamorous Hollywood actress. The detective assigned to the case just happens to be Miss Marple’s nephew which is very handy! In this production the relating of proceedings is cleverly done by using flashbacks where characters from past and present are on stage at the same time but it is never confusing, as it is done so well.

It goes without saying the performances by all on stage is immaculate, but what amazes me is how good and sturdy the sets always are, the costumes so authentic and lighting effects adding that extra dimension. It’s so easy to take all these things for granted as we do when visiting West End theatres where we pay in the region of five times (or more) as much!
