Theatre Group visit to see The Crucible
12th October 2025

October’s production from Bromley Little Theatre was Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. This powerful play was written by Miller as both a cautionary tale and an allegory in response to accusation of communism against him. It parallels the Salem Witch Trials and McCarthyism, exposing how fear and ignorance can fuel hysteria, division and violence and is very relevant today.
This production was excellent, and the cast put a great deal of emotion into their performances. Director Josh George Lawson managed to energise a play which many people knew and kept us gripped to the performances. Particularly powerful acting was from Chris du Pury as the Governor and Jack Harding and Lucy White as John and Elizabeth Proctor. Those playing the young girls who were the accusers also deserve a special mention. The set again was just right for the setting.
Thank you again BLT and we look forward to your next production.
