Was this Jack the Ripper?

u3a Bromley’s latest General meeting was a sellout* with nearly 200 attendees listening with rapt attention and bursts of laughter to popular speaker, Tony Harris, in the role of Sherlock Holmes. His thoroughly convincing talk outlined one of the theories surrounding the identity of Jack the Ripper as Prince Albert Victor, the grandson of Queen Victoria, who was second in line to the British throne.

While Tony went through the gruesome details of the actual murders, he dropped in fascinating facts about the lives of ordinary people at the time and social conditions, combining real information with intriguing speculation.

Throughout, he involved the audience with questions. Anyone who managed a correct answer was awarded the title of ‘Watson’ and had to wear the appropriate bowler hat, not always flattering as you can see!

In truth, we will probably never know who the Ripper really was, and one theory may be as good as another, but if anyone can make a good case, Tony Harris can.

TONY IS RETURNING ON TUESDAY 2nd APRIL AT THE LOCAL STUDIES MEETING – NOT TO BE MISSED – MEMBERS ONLY

* In fact, General Meetings are free to our members but we welcome non members who can attend for just £5.00 which we will rebate against the cost of joining our u3a.
