LOWE Group trip to Shoreditch

We were treated to a tour of the Victorian Town Hall by their Cultural Programme Manager. She told us of its history both as a municipal building and then a venue for various activities after Shoreditch merged with Stoke Newington and Hackney in 1965. It is presently run by a Trust as a thriving independent arts, events and community space. We also wanted to visit the nearby Grade I listed St Leonard’s Church but could only gain access to the garden where I took the photo of u3a members behaving badly.
