Sinatra The Musical at the Aldwych Theatre
21st July 2026
32 members of Bromley and Beckenham U3As attended this new musical about Frank Sinatra. Starting on New Year’s Eve 1942 a skinny 27-year-old Italian-American singer is about to step onto the stage of New York City’s Paramount Theatre and give a performance that will change music history. But as Frank Sinatra’s voice captures a nation, his heart is torn between his wife, Nancy, and movie goddess, Ava Gardner. When scandal and a hostile press send his career into a tailspin, the young crooner fights back and stages the greatest comeback in show business history.
Brought to the stage by the two-time Tony winning writer Joe DiPetro the show has over 20 classic hits. Joel Harper-Jackson plays Sinatra and is joined by Ana Villafane as Ava and Phoebe Panaretos his first wife Nancy. Also worth a mention is Felicity Walton as Little Nancy.
Members of the group really enjoyed the show and felt it brought back lots of memories. I felt it truly came alive at the end when New York New York was sung. However, it was an enjoyable afternoon in a cool theatre
